Creative Questing: Exploring the Journey of the Creative Process

The creative process is a journey in which one leaves what is familiar to them and travels into the unknown.  In mythic terms this is the hero’s journey. 

Embark on your own hero’s journey. 
Find the inspiration within you and act on it.

In these classes we explore the creative process and play with exercises and skills that build a path of discovery to support finding new ways to face challenges in your art and in your life. The classes are experiential, informational, empowering, and tailored to meet your intention. We explore how to use inner and outer resources to be creative in artistic pursuits, relationships, work, transitions, or any other area of your life.   Whether you are an artist desiring to deepen the creative process,  a professional hoping to gain better problem solving skills,  a homeowner wishing to redecorate with fresh ideas, or an individual seeking to deepen their inner dialogue using art;  you are invited to explore and enhance your creativity in a fun and safe atmosphere.  These classes are about playfully engaging with what is around you and within you, so that you can create new possibilities for your life. . Artists of all levels, as well as those who don’t consider themselves artists, are welcome.

Have you ever wanted to take a drawing class, but don’t feel ready?  Is it difficult to fit a drawing class into your schedule?   Would you like a class with a curriculum designed to meet your needs, and that you can engage with at your own pace?

Drawing Preliminaries provides you with an ongoing curriculum of exercises, practices, and ideas.  You draw at home as your schedule allows. Material is shared in class, as well as dialogue and support in your process.  The class material emphasizes developing technical skill, as well as cultivating a playful and committed approach to drawing.

The Journey In Color

This one day class explores classic color theory, and then delves into each color of the spectrum through history, mythology, and personal inventory. Playful and engaging exercises are introduced to deepen your relationship with color.

Drawing and Discovery in Nature

In this class, participants experience a led walk, with sketchbooks in hand, to explore the natural world. Throughout the class we'll discover the intricacies and variety of what we find through careful exploration, and do some sketching as we go. Focus is on developing observational skills and cultivating seeing, in order to render what one sees on the page. This class is appropriate for all levels of drawing experience (including those with no experience) and anyone who enjoys exploring the wonders of nature.
